we have officially reached the part of dev edits where I am jumping around because there are too many chapters I am scared of.
A lot of these last ones need near complete rewrites, but I think I will be able to get it done this week!

i'm starting to get really worried about the word count for GODDESSwip, its dropping close to 80k, and I know I still have 5-10k left to add back in through additional scenes but for a fantasy that seems so short

the first title for KNEADING ANSWERS was Hot Cocoa for Two but then my creative writing professor said it was too childish so I changed it to Christmas in Code before deciding that was too formal and settling on KNEADING ANSWERS

the first draft of this book was 130k, and this latest draft is looking like its going to be under 90k. But it's wild how little the structure of the story has changed, I just had a lot of unnecessary scenes #writingcommunity

ALSO I would count a book deal or getting 1 million subscribers as 'winning the lottery'
I'm looking into my next formal education steps and it feels like I either have to win the lottery or finish it over 20 years. Which I am find with either outcome, but there's definitely one I prefer

I always planned for this manuscript would be a little test run for querying that I could learn from and makes some mistakes now . But I didn't realize how quickly I would want to give up on it. 1/3

In one of my wips I am doing revisions and in the other I am rereading to figure out what needs to be changed
And I think my problem with editing is the latter. I love working, I love writing, and I love fixing things. But having to figure out what to fix is a bit more difficult

This book already had favorite child status from me, but I just edited it for 2 hours straight and could keep going... like don't worry baby, nothing is coming to top you. You don't have to make me love you more

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 86: You don't have to go far to get ideas. They're everywhere around you. What you need is to train your mind to see the familiar in a new and unfamiliar way. Change angles. Play with perspective. Take tired tropes and wake them up.

I know some people say not to set up writing sessions in terms of time spent and instead focus on word count, which I agree with for writing, but the same DOES NOT apply for editing
I recently switched to editing for an hour instead of chapter limits, and I feel like I am getting so much more done
