Happy to have played a small part in this work – and hoping these data help illustrate why a strong PABS mechanism with the Pandemic Agreement is critical to align our currently fractured system into one that prioritizes global health justice.

🚨 NEW: We evaluated global patterns in access and benefit-sharing (ABS) – and found a fragmented system of national policies. Only 16 countries include digital sequence information in enforceable policy – leaving lifesaving data in a gray area 🔓 tinyurl.com/3p73brw9

And, if you're not super "technical", fear not!
One of the things I'm proudest about in this paper is how we walk through the process of building and validating a knowledge graph – and determining whether it's the right tool for your question or data.

Some cool future directions that knowledge graphs could help with:
🔗 Integrate multiscale data + models
🚩 Detect patterns + gaps
🌎 Support hypothesis generation
🔎 Predict hidden / missing links in complex systems
🖥️ Train models for downstream analysis

🚨🦠 New in @bioinfoadv.bsky.social: Can we use knowledge graphs to link data across systems to make better predictions about spillover? We use bird flu to show the value of these tools in navigating complex / multi-scale systems for disease ecology 🔓😷🧪
