One of the best films about faith and religion I’ve ever seen, as a total bonus to being yet another great whodunnit.

I own this one and it gives me great happiness to pick up and flip through

Mine is similar: Ward Bond

It’s genuinely profound. It grapples honestly with every failure of the institutional church and every logical tangle of belief, and yet manages one of the most genuinely emotional depictions of grace in film. We’re so spoiled having Rian make movies.

So underrated! SZ Sakall is such a star! I say “catastrophe” like him all the time

My first thought was “I wouldn’t be able to hold office” followed shortly by “which is probably correct”
November 16, 2025 at 1:35 AM
That movie bored me a little but it was very aesthetically pleasing for these exact reasons. Haha
November 16, 2025 at 12:17 AM
Somehow actually even more disgusting than you expect it to be before opening
November 15, 2025 at 10:45 PM
Absolutely the dumbest thing

All that overly formal Nathan Detroit dialogue only gets funnier if a kid delivers it stiffly
November 15, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Dude I haaaaaaate this trend at concerts. Just have a light show and move around a bit on stage!

“Every genre and era has lots of terrific music” is likely mine
November 14, 2025 at 2:42 PM
At first I thought this meant “don’t have weird hobbies” and felt attacked, which is probably a good sign I don’t have enough money to invest to be worried about this lol
November 14, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Hell yes! Just picked this album up on CD and every time it ends I want to start again because I know this song is first.

Like how do you write “Spanish Castle Magic” and “Little Wing” under those circumstances?!?
November 9, 2025 at 11:00 PM
“Dad, get me out of this” is a chapter’s-worth of backstory in one line
November 9, 2025 at 2:33 AM
Love Actually, a movie I do like quite a lot in spite of its flaws, is outrageously stupid for how characters talk about the absurdly attractive Martine McCutcheon.

Yeah the perpetual problem of the Grammys is that it’s an industry org so it always tilts dramatically toward major labels and known artists. I never hope the Grammys will nominate my 5 favorites in any category, ‘cause they never will. I just hope they nominate 5 good ones. Which is still iffy…
November 8, 2025 at 9:16 PM
You’re not wrong, but also the more they’ve contracted categories over the years (and they have) the less discovery there has been for me. All the fun stuff is in Americana or contemporary blues or alternative R&B or alternative jazz, etc.

Grammy noms are good for getting a few ideas of things you missed to check out. Read through and be happy for the handful of surprising great picks scattered about and then go about your lives
