The birds were launching nearby and circling past, closer than I've ever seen them. I could see tiny cars wending down the highway, farms and fields. But that wasn't what they were looking for...

Went on a #mushroom foraging walk the other day. Convenient accidental dime for scale.

I took this 🍄📸 for the mushrooms, but it's interesting to see these sun, moon, star, & geometric designs dotting logs along the trail, like little glass trail blazes.

I didn't plan or prune it this way; it just came out perfectly aligned. I've deadheaded it several times now and it keeps bouncing back.

Lots of rain lately means lots of #mushrooms ! Accidental halo effect; it's so humid here that my phone camera lens fogged up a bit in my pocket...

I've been working my way through a catalog of #mushroom growing kits. This is part of my first harvest of snow oysters; there was also a second cluster, a bit smaller than this one. They require cool temperatures, so I had to wait until winter to try them, and grow them in the basement.

One from the archives, taken a couple of years ago at a state park. Top and underside view of the same cluster, growing out of a tree trunk.
