“VIA thinks wants to be an airline” sounds like a joke but it’s so true. Overhead bins. Hard seats covered in slippery leather and no footrests. No cafe car, just cart service. Boarding trains by groups. So many of those retractable rope things to section off areas of the terminals and platforms

One of the main reasons to have a truck is towing, and you can’t really do it with an EV. The range gets cut down by like 75%, and trying to find somewhere you can charge with a trailer (or otherwise finding somewhere to leave the trailer while you charge) is extremely difficult.

I doubt it will solve the compulsory seat reservation problem, unfortunately. And if it makes the media distancia services more popular, cases of those trains “selling out” will become even more common
