A converted gorkamorka trukk based on the genestealer cults car with three orks and a grot. The orks are converted from aos, 40k and longsnouts 3d prints. The trukk has orky spares from necromunda and the speed freeks trike Ork Spanner made from Kruelboyz murknob, necromunda Goliath and 3d printed long snout parts. Made a thing! Book of Grudges from a £4.99 TKMaxx Halloween book box. 45-60 mins to paint over the text and front image with something more Warhammer. Perfect as a dice tray for my trip to LGT this weekend

Took my 2.6k of Royal Clan Dwarfs up to Nottingham with some club mates and had a brilliant time at the TSN Arena hosted by @sixdiceskills.bsky.social @squarebasedpodcast.bsky.social fantastic time gaming at a superb venue. Old World is so fun at a larger points value / with matched play

20 hammerers, 22 longbeards, 2x13 quarrellers, a couple of doomseekers some artillery and and a bunch of dwarf characters on square bases ranked up for parade Me and Rob the Honest wargamer. We have various different photos of this picture now. Delight on our faces A wargames table with a man raising his hand in the air excitedly at the far side. The battle is orcs and goblins vs Dwarfs. The man is Matt Hinton. He’s great. And won best sports. And this game. And our hearts. Another wargames table. Here dwarfs face off against high elves. A Dwarfen mountain holds army. Bright armour and dark cloth in greens reds and purples. Most of the models are 3d prints by Highlands Miniatures or MoM. Some GW plastics and some older kits. The army sits in a warmag really useful box. Very satisfying transport. This is a top down view. The whole army fits. Dwarfen baggage train built using the Bloodbowl death roller and some hurricanum spares. The driver has gained an axe and has striped trousers. BSB. Runesmith. Brass armour is shiny. He has an eye patch and a white streak in his beard and hair. The icon he bears is also brass but worn and patina’d.

I probably should’ve read this years ago. My uncle recommended it when I was a teenager and my sister bought me the first book over a decade ago. Never quite piqued my interest and I’ve been off fiction for the longest time. But it’s simply beautiful writing. Worth the accidental wait.

Recent additions to my growing throng
3 highlands miniatures veterans. Painted using bright metals and muted greys and browns. MoM miniatures dwarf banner bearer. The banner top is a stylised face in metal. Below it is a book of runes. The dwarf smiles a pipe and carries his helmet. He has a black beard and silver armour. Two highlands miniature dwarf rangers. They have crossbows and green hoods. Both are female presenting. One with dark and one with light skin. They are also with a dwarf hammerer also from highlands. He has shiny silver armour with purple undertones and red cloth. A statue miniature of a dwarf head. Painted to look like grey stone. It’s on a 50mm base and is a unit filler for a dwarf army for Warhammer.

Absolutely love this story. My late cousin was a zoologist specialising in bats and specifically Pipistrelles. She probved that they were in fact two separate species based on vocal analysis! 🦇 her brother, who sadly also passed, played Warhammer & D&D. I never met him but he’d also love this story.

Productive day at the hobby desk. Lots of bits to butterfly between. A few more things close to completion.
Two 40mm bases of squabbling snotlings by avatars of war. A catapult by MoM miniatures. Shroomancer from AoS Gobbopalooza (aka the best model GW have ever made). This on is on a 25mm square base so he can be some kind of night goblin wizard in old world I don’t know I just painted him. Fantasia vibes.

Commission piece for the Old World. Minis from @warpminiatures.bsky.social Ourk Chieftain & Swamp Wyvern. Loved working on this.
A great bearded orc with yellow armour and black clothes lifts a skull club above his head and shouts. He holds an uprooted mushroom/ top hat in his other hand. Mushrooms grow on his shoulder pad. Red with white spots. He stands on top of a giant mushroom that’s sprouting from the back of a gribbly, green wyvern. The wing membranes are purples and glossy. Many different mushrooms and toadstools sprout from its back and it has one big horn a bit like a rhino. The base is built up with a bleached dragon skull beaneath a rocky outcrop. Glorfindel, Lord of the West for MESBG. Last elf to be painted from a Rivendell commission from a couple of years back. He was always out of stock.
Games workshop’s Glorfindel Lord of the west model on horse. The horse is white with mottled grey and a sandy mane and tail. Glorfindel has his right arm across his torso as he twists to strike a foe to his left. His armour is silver and gold and his robes in cool greys and blacks. His steed is rearing up on its back hooves and the basing is cracked earth with patchy, yellowing grass The same from a reverse angle showing the filigree on the cape in white. The reverse of Glorfindel on foot. Painted to match. Cross hatching and lines suggest cloth texture on the cape Both models. Mounted and on foot.

One of my all time favourites came out of storage this week. Early AoS conversion from a children’s toy. He may end up being rebased for old world.
