Spent the weekend up at a cabin in the mountains with a handful of folks playing a marathon #Daggerheart dungeon crawl set in Age of Umbra.
The whole group was gen-x'r old-schoolers, and everyone loved it and had a blast. Another win for the balanced 'middle way' approach of the game's design!

Yep. TTRPG's have always had new games to try. Who remembers "Bunnies & Burrows", which came out in 1976 - *before* 1e D&D?
..yet we're still plagued with the belief that every new system will be a 'Fantasy Heartbreaker' by default. Hopefully 2023 changed that forever. So many great new systems!

I'd ask what sort of shows they like, and what sort of role they'd play if they could be in one.
If they didn't have any strong feelings or fandoms, I'd probably honestly start with good ol' D&D. The Thunderlock Bar Crawl by Rolled & Told is short and a BLAST! Great comic intros too.
