one theory that my friends and I have come up with is that it may be related to the geographic location you're in and the connectivity to iCloud / Music servers... things like server response time somehow factoring into UI responsiveness, which may not be visible at all in the US

The ironic thing is it works perfectly on the iPad and iPhone so it is possible to make it work

It may be that the ceiling of how many songs you can have came down - friends of mine with 30k have occasional issues but for me with 200k it’s downright unusable - just constant hangs and beachballs

feels to me like they completely abandoned any kind of development of the app after it got separated out from iTunes and left it at that since then... there's also countless bugs in the more advanced view options etc... playlists reverting back to previous versions of themselves randomly etc. etc.

then there's a plethora of bugs... such as clicking the search bar to search and then typing too quickly -> broken search bar... or clicking it multiple times in a row, seemingly opens the search UI on top of each other multiple times... search sometimes entirely stops searching... so much broken

it essentially only works when you have an empty or very very small library or when you disable iCloud Music Library (and Genius) entirely...

it's been broken for me and everyone else I know who has any kind of Music in their libraries for several years now... the iCloud Music Library feature makes it hang and spin at 100% CPU use constantly, it essentially never finishes and it makes using the app entirely unusable...
