Unfortunately it is a niche device so there is not much competition out there. If new Alpha Smart Neo is released today with just slightly improved specs (rechargeable, removable battery, improved keyboards) and some modern capability (free wireless sync), I think it will be a hit.

When I watched at the review, gosh, the screen looked terrible. I wonder how can they go wrong with such basic things. The screen is not like super high-tech or anything. They just need to figure out the right size and legibility. With that price tag, I thought they could do much better.

You should! It's a little time capsule. Unfortunately I never had this back in the day and just started collecting these iPods. It's great to listen to music without any notification sound.

Ughh… what a nuisance with 2 cables to do different things. Luckily now we have single cable to do most things 😁

Ah I see. That’s why I have only ever seen the flash mod for the iPod 4th and newer generation. Thanks for the information!

Do you make any modification to the internal storage and/or the battery? Great to see 2nd gen iPod still in good condition like this.

Same thing with iPod Nano 4th and 5th gen. I don't know if iPod Mini suffers the same thing as it is rarely mentioned to have that issue (perhaps the case is not that tight?)

What a beautiful iPod. As others have mentioned it, please change the battery ASAP before it expands. Once expanding, the battery will stuck and it will be too difficult (and dangerous) to remove.
