right so what happens if i make an album with individual track purchases turned off, then someone buys a playlist that includes a couple tracks from said album

Unowned plays are limited (see this help center article), and when the play limit prompt pops for a user, they are immediately asked to support artists if they wish to continue listening. (Note, the following sentence is underlined in blue) In the future, we aim to make playlists purchasable, as well, which will drive sales to the featured artists. Also looking ahead, we aim to make playlists a tool available to artists and labels, which will allow them to make playlists from tracks in their catalog, and sell those as well.
