Do I know anyone who has explored the Fediverse beyond Mastodon?

I just ran my resume through ChatGPT just to see what it would recommend, and now I understand why people use AI-generated resumes. :P I like to think I have a pretty good grasp of how to put together a decent resume, but 80% of the changes it made were definitely improvements.

One-sentence review of both Squid Game 2 and The Girl Who Played With Fire: In media res is a good way to begin a story, NOT to end one.

This is the real problem we're facing; Trump is just a symptom.

Hot take on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Watch the Swedish version, not the American version. The American adaptation fails to grasp what details were important in the Swedish version, what traits make the title character who she is, and even who the main character of the story is.

Happy new year! Here's hoping 2025 will be less stupid than 2024. (I know it's unrealistic, but leave me my illusions at least through New Year's Day.)

I simply refuse to call them "skeets", and for the love of Urban Dictionary you shouldn't either.

New pet peeve: people claiming that a particular social media site or dating site or whatever site "doesn't have an algorithm". Literally everything a computer does has an algorithm. Software that doesn't have any algorithms doesn't (*can't*) do anything.

Yesterday I was thinking about posting that I wish there were a social media site that differs from Facebook in the same way that Bluesky differs from Twitter. I didn't post it because it occurred to me that Bluesky may be that site.

Last night I played through To the Moon after hearing that it is the best game ever made with the RPG Maker engine. I am now in the position of wanting to tell you all about it, but also not wanting to spoil ANYTHING about it. Here's its info card from Steam.

Hot takes on SDCC Star Trek previews:

- SNW looks great, although I take issue with the effects of their Vulcan serum.
- LD looks entertaining.
- Not digging the vibe on S31, but looking forward to Georgiou's return.
- Starfleet Academy: Too early to tell.

How 'bout you?

Android app designers/developers:
This is a bit of a specific corner-case gripe, but the general rule here of "don't unnecessarily restrict things" is nearly universal. (1/X)

I skipped the debate for other plans, since I could get the gist from headlines and commentary today. Sounds like I didn't miss anything I hadn't guessed. As always, the options are Bad and Worse, and our choice is whether we want life in America to get worse slowly or quickly.

Hot take: links to paywalled articles posted to social media should be required to be labelled "payment required" or the like, or be considered false advertising.
