Rather than attacking science, this new statement from the Vatican is a full-throated defense of science, which it believes is “fundamental to the development of humankind” and needs to be protected “from ideological or political interference.”

The issue is considerably more complex than simply banning devices!

“…bans, in isolation, ‘are not enough to tackle the negative impacts’.
Instead, more focus should be placed on reducing the amount of time students spend on their phones…”

Always worth keeping in mind. From The Scientific Method: A Guide to Finding Useful Knowledge by J Scott Armstrong & Keston C Green.

Of course, as with cognitive biases, it's always apparent in others but rather less so, if at all, in oneself.

Helping students to complete tasks or assignments isn't an intervention. Intervention is systematically taking a student to mastery on a critical skill using a research-based practice. #LeadInclusion #EduSky #InclusiveEd #EdLeaders #MTSS #UDL

If we go to the trouble to create an accommodation for one student who has an IEP, why not just offer it to everyone? It's not harder to give the support to everyone. When baked into our lesson as #UDL, supports can have far-reaching benefits. #LeadInclusion #EduSky #InclusiveEd

For inclusion to really be successful, it has to be our mission, our ethos as a school. And every educator in the building must see themselves as a teacher of ALL students. #LeadInclusion #EduSky #InclusiveEd #EdLeaders #UDL #InclusiveEd

If a student is having trouble with an assignment, the goal of intervention time isn't to get through the assignment. The goal of any intervention is to improve the transferable skill that is at the root of the challenge. Homework help isn't intervention. #LeadInclusion #EduSky #InclusiveEd
