I've always loved his work. It's great to find out he's such an interesting, thoughtful man. (Which is obviously a big part of why he's such a good actor.)

That's exactly it. She wasn't just brilliant, she was unique. There are other actresses who are as talented, but she brought a very particular energy and style to everything she did.

I was once in an acting class with a woman who would occasionally grimace & make weird hand movements when she was on the floor working. She explained that she was punching the imaginary parrot on her shoulder who whispered negativity/doubt/criticism in her ear.

I've done a few shows with a director who has the cast do this on the afternoon of opening night just before the supper break. (In these parts we call it an "Italian".) Always helps to shake off the nerves, get people out of their heads, & rev up the energy.
