Hot take, liking the LOTR trilogy films, and liking FOTR the best isn't basic, it's just factual. FOTR deserved all the Oscars ROTK got + best supporting actor for Ian Mckellen. It's a masterfully done film.

That's true, I don't think it's contemptuous either, but I think it's fair to compare it, whether it's mismanagement or miscommunication or internal structural issues, whatever it is it's not going well

I think you *can* compare how WoW treats beloved characters vs how FFXIV does the same. FFXIV knows how to keep characters true to what ppl love about them even if they change, whereas Blizzard is like, what if we retconned everything that made this character good and then run them into the ground

I feel like I mostly play wow for cosmetics and the races and the gameplay now, because the story since Shadowlands has been either garbage or very neglected. (BfA I think had a good story apart from the War campaign, like I got by on the amazing Zandalar lore)

I think it is difficult to compare them, because they are so very different in so many ways, but I can't help but feel that there is absolutely no way for new players to learn the lore and care about it, so now Blizzard is like well what if we just torched the lore and focused on nothing but endgame

That feature is nice in that you don't have to play through an area you weren't psyched about and can choose where to go, but you can't even finish all the zones in any given expansion area before you reach max level, so if you're a new player, you know literally nothing about the lore at all
