I'd be interested in hearing what goes on in the planning phase of these facilities. Surely it is considered, but I wonder what their thought processes are around it. That'd be a great area to advance.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of this once the event is over. I'm curious what kind of "legacy" this will leave for Regina's image as a city - any new infrastructure, civic pride, and of course the $$$

I think they should still be counted as losses, a loss is a loss, and he went in knowing he was injured. If it was his choice to participate injured a loss can't be too surprising.

Skateboarding originated in Southern California as an alternative to surfing. Predominantly a white, middle class, male sport, early marketing and segregated beach/equipment access created exclusivity. Skateboarders of colour and other marginalized groups created their own spaces and communities.

Good point regarding work culture and access to nearby facilities. It makes a huge difference when people around you prioritize physical activity and it's realistic to include in your lifestyle. If only every workplace had a fitness facility or health package to spend on fitness in the community.

My studies in Therapeutic Recreation have motivated me to make rec/leisure a priority. After university, with more time and better income, I image I'd be able to have more consistent rec & activity than now. I'd love to rejoin rec hockey, do regular fitness classes, & have time for new activities.

Leisure activities can be anything you choose to do/enjoy in your free time. Sports have characteristics like rules, regulations, objectives, competitions, and organizations. Activities like casual gardening, watching TV, nature walking, etc. would be leisure vs. sport; intrinsic motivation/choice
