I think it’s sinking in. First the shock phase. Then denial. Then disbelief.
It’s similar to the 5 stages of grief.
Time for anger- happening now. Hoping Americans stay in that phase.

Every yr I choose a word.This yr has been more challenging than most.What word can I keep on my radar to ground me,remind me,focus me?
I finally settled on INTENTION.
In this chaos it fits.
I’m a kinesthetic learner so I make it mine by depicting it in a Nicho.

Small metal Nicho shaped more or less like an arched window. Centered on the arched shape is a small window paned box with a glass hinged window pane from and shutters on either side. Using inks the entire Nicho is splattered in rich blues, golds, greens and bronzes. Inside the window paned box stands a small girl in a pink top and skirt. Long fair pony tail. We only see her back. She is looking at an empty gold clock face with a large black eye centered in it. There is a small Canadian flag beside her. On the shutters- one side a postage stamp with Carpe Diem (seize the day)-the other with 25 for the year. Centered underneath the glassed box is a banner with the word Intention On the top of the arched outside shape is a small bronzed disk carrying the words “Be Still and Know”, a pair of metal framed eye bronze glasses (w/o arms) and a golden leaf. The entire Nicho is approx 4” H and with the shutters open about the same crops at the widest point. All items are in miniature.

Out my front deck this morning. Yes it looks pretty. Yes the sun is shining..but it’s minus 30C and with the windchill closer to minus 40C.

Edmonton Alberta- Feb 10, 8:40 am Beautiful blue sky/Sunny morning;looking out over snowy back yard that on the left slopes down past tall spruce to a frozen lake-a pedestrian bridge in the distant middle, and more frozen lake and bare poplar trees to the right. The snow is anywhere from 1ft to 2ft deep. The tones of the pic are white, blue, dark green, browns. It is also close to 40 below with the windchill.
