The CPI weighting timeline won’t be impacted, other than the general impact the shutdown is having.

There hasn’t been any data collected in October, so while data may still be posted for September, for as long as the shutdown there simply won’t be data.
However, once data collection resumes, we will be able to infer the changes by looking at total levels.

I’m sorry you think that I’m a sycophant. All I can say is we are trying to do the best we can with the resources we have.

I’m always saddened when a former federal worker are willing to assume the worst of the bureaucrats trying their best to do their jobs. Currently there are no political appointees at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

It depends on what you mean by “use” the reports, in terms of web views there are tens of thousands per report, but the data itself also sees a large number of other uses. So it is hard to put an exact number on the number of users. But you could always reach out to BLS and ask if they have an idea.

BLS is still working hard to accurately report those figures. But BLS is stretched thin right now and you can expect variance to increase as sample sizes decrease and less resources for data validation. And if you use non-PFEI data, contact your representatives now before they’re cut.

Yeah, I followed up with the total employment graph, but he unfortunately followed up with a death threat and blocked me.

I really am sorry that you were personally affected adversely. I can tell that this is a sore point for you, and I won’t say that things are perfect or even good for everyone.
But the fact remains, the average American was better off in 2024 than they were in 2019. I’m sorry you weren’t included.

Oh, so now you’re trying to gaslight me? Nice try, I’ll just pretend 20 million jobs were vacant even though unemployment was at near 15%. Nope, Donald Trump caused unemployment to sky rocket and lost Americans 20 million jobs.

Who did that? According to your own logic he gained 21 million jobs for Americans, making Biden the single biggest job creator in history.

I’m merely giving you the facts, no one is gaslighting you. I do this for a living, I can keep this going forever.

If you don’t take that period into consideration then you have to agree that Donald Trump’s presidency caused 20 million people to lose their jobs. Which means that Biden created 21 million jobs for Americans, pretty impressive.

I’m sorry you feel the need to be so hateful, unfortunately this is why people seem to not want to interact with you.
If you truly believe things are looking better now then I am happy for you, and I wish you the best.

That was the economy recovering all of the low wage jobs that were lost due to COVID layoffs.
It is best to ignore the spike and instead track real wages from the end of 2019 to the start of 2022, which you can see real wages were still higher.

There are no teams at BLS, we are apolitical. And as long as we have resources we will continue to produce data. The fact remains by the end of Biden’s administration Americans were doing as well if not better than they were in 2019, despite American’s more negative outlook on the economic future.

The work force participation rate for 25-54 (prime age for employment) is at 83%, other than a brief period in the late 90’s that is a historically high level.

Trying to get my rule to stick, so I’m just leaving it here. Thanks!
Can we have a new rule: You can still post “they are just going to get rid of the Bureau of Labor Statistics” or “they will just start fudging the numbers,” but every time you do you also have to call your Senators and Congressperson to demand they support the BLS.

We actually are no longer at 2 Mass Ave, we have been relocated to the Suitland Federal Center in Maryland. 2 Mass Ave is now just the Postal Museum and Senate offices.
