thinking about finally actually really this time starting german!

a) my SIL and her family are German and some don't speak English,
b) my dad was fluent and published a few books in German, and
c) because of b) we have a mini library of German history books at home 👀👀

...d) I love Tokio Hotel 😅

although I've been using my Post-Transition Forever Name for about 5 years now I kinda wanna change it again... my name's 100% male-leaning but as I've become more aware of my inner identity I want sth at least a little bit gender-neutral. but my nephews would be confused ;__;

📔How would you split the word p̓x̣ʷłtłp (bunchberry plant) into syllables?

This week's essay gives an overview of how our understanding of Nuxalk syllables has developed over time!

I'm one chapter into Siostrzeniec czarodzieja (Narnia #1 transl. into polish), so far it's been at my level and I only looked up ≈5 words per page. So easier than Wizard Book #1 and about the same difficulty as Śnieżna dziewczynka ^___^

(I'm now going through 4 Polish books at once 😅😅)

But: ...it was 10 lines long 😅😅

I'm about 50% through śnieżna dziewczynka (children's book transl. into polish) and though my reading speed seems to have decreased slightly since starting 😅 I've been able to recognise and understand a lot of repeated words. so I'm not regretting quitting* anki (...yet!) :P

A neat Internet Archive find: Anna Karenina in Russian, adapted for learners! I'm looking forward to going through this, even with my poor Russian it should be easier than reading the full thing in English lol

I'm dnf-ing Blood Meridian (cormac mccarthy) after about 100 pages, its just not doing it for me. I was also bored reading The Road (same author) - though the ending of that one was good. I might watch an analysis vid on Blood Meridian and come back to the book at a later date...

Finished most 'stories of your life and others' by ted chiang, though I had to stop the story 'liking what you see' halfway through (as smn tormented his whole life for being so ugly it was far too upsetting lol). Aside from that I much preferred it to 'exhalation' (same author) :-) #booksky
