This is so cool. I can't wait to learn why they're called Jotunborn and how that ties into the existing giant language and lore... I imagine too you could use the custom half-ancestry rules to add this to another ancestry and make a functional half-giant as well. These are gonna rock.

In theory this attempt to avoid being biologically essentialist actually ends up making the problem worse by giving you purely superior species. If the benefit of a monster is 'this one has dark vision and this one doesn't but they're both the same' the one with dark vision will ALWAYS be better.

So what's the point of them being a different ancestry then? What makes an orc unique? Even have a template for one if there's no real significant differences? Just use Warrior stats and say it's an orc, right? Seems kinda boring and very generic.

That's why I like how PF2E does it. There's stats for like Orc Warrior, Halfling Scout, Dwarf Whatever; just generic members of a society to use as a baseline for the typical low level NPC of an ancestry. Not intended to say they are monsters but just If You Fight One, heres an idea

So it's just a skin essentially and not like... An orc mage would likely be different from an elf mage due to cultural differences in how they learn and wield arcane magic? I guess that would be flavor and not actual abilities in that system.

As someone who doesn't 5e, what does this mean? How do you apply an Orc Template? Like to specifically humanoid 'monsters'?
Isn't the idea of having different ancestries in those to show like an average combatant of that ancestry for reference or quick use, not to say they are monsters explicitly?

A lot of the APs use different artists; some I love. Some I'm less fond of. The art for Spore War has been AMAZING however.

I think the reason they went away from this art was the style was SO distinctly different and she didn't look like a Golarion elf (big scleras and such) but it is really pretty and such a unique style. Kind of Jak and Daxter vibes almost

We sorta ran it that the whole adventure path was The Case because otherwise you're like 'is it ... The room? The boss monster?'
Abomination Vaults is a whole thing. I can see homebrew, less overarching plots being a bit more fiddly

I ran a medic/healer investigator through Abomination Vaults and I loved it. I felt like a god in battle, running around healing everyone and then popping off pinpoint bow crits.

There's that good module for the exploit vulnerability automation too. Been loving that. Had to custom code a thing for the regalia aura but once I learned how it felt cool lol.
