My research may help but little. Still, I am thoroughly convinced that writing CVs, research plans, teaching portfolios, and the like will accomplish even less for anyone other than myself and, very likely, not even that.

However, after reading the long list of documents required in the application process, I have come to the conclusion that I am neither able nor willing to invest this much time and energy for a mere chance at a job I might never be interviewed for.
