He tends to overthink everything and often ends up being his own worst enemy. It gives him major anxiety in social situations, and he feels like he has to answer every question from every angle, even if no one asked for the extra details. Overeducating people is his coping mechanism, I guess.

Yes, but also no. In concept, he likes the idea of relaxing on a beach by the sea. In practice, however, this guy is heat intolerant and has inherited light sensitivity. If you catch him at the beach, it's either dawn, dusk, or night. He'll cower under a wide-brimmed hat and umbrella during the day.

He has very obvious ticks when he's angry or annoyed; he subconsciously tenses his entire body, thins his lips, and stands/sits ramrod straight. While most people see him as someone calm under pressure or duress, he does have a temper that he inherited from his father.

His night routine is a production. He takes a long, luxurious bath, changes into loose pajama pants, and prepares his clothes for the next day before dimming the lights. Then he pours himself a nightcap and journals or reads by candlelight. It's probably his favorite part of the day, to be honest.

Pretty sure he'd be the most well-cared-for and well-loved kid alive. He had a very happy childhood and would be blissfully unaware of all the awful things he'd later experience. And his little (now 'big') brother would have to babysit him and watch his language, lol.

A friend (probably @skelezyn.bsky.social) said they imagined Gustavain sounded like J. Michael Tatum because he voices what seems like 95% of all smart/handsome/glasses-wearing men in anime, and I went "yeah, that tracks, lol."

Gustavain has both a food allergy and food-based trauma (long story, ex-wife was involved), so he is pretty picky. He can't eat mammalian meat, so he's a strict pescatarian. He also won't eat anything made by people/establishments he doesn't trust or hasn't vetted.
