Thin end of the wedge or sharp edge of the knife - whatever … if we don’t understand ourselves we won’t be able to do anything about what they’re doing to us.
This is horrible. Attacks on the humanities are another way to destroy our future. Now is when we need the humanities the most.
Arabic Studies, Holocaust Studies, Russian, Eastern European & Eurasian Studies, Religion, & more—decimating the humanities destroys our ability to understand the world, act in it, and envision a future. Blue states are complicit in this destruction of scholarship and teaching

Spot on by Duncan H; read the article itself in the comments. Disgraceful failure by the BBC!
Quite apart from the headline, the reporting in this piece is unforgivably misleading from the BBC. In her tweet, between "mass deportation now" and "if that makes me racist, so be it" she wrote "set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care". THAT's why she was guilty!

This is an astonishing reveal of just what's going on Stateside! Please read, you know it makes ........... no sense at all!
It's not extraordinary that the fascist regime in the White House is cracking down on dissent in the public sphere. It is extraordinary, and horrific, that US institutions - from big universities to major law firms - are bowing down to this unconstitutional censorship in fear of losing money.
NYU canceled a talk by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she intended to mention the high number of deaths of aid workers in Gaza, and Trump/Musk’s destruction of USAID. “Antisemitic” and “anti-governmental” to say this ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/215...

Bravo to the British Association for American Studies, which has refused to kowtow to the new anti-diversity policy of the US government and has consequently lost a significant source of grant funding that was previously provided by the US Embassy in London.

"It should be dawning on the SNP, when they look at their own party, that centralising power in the hands of a few rarely creates something well run.

And what is true for a party is true for a nation – power should be dispersed widely and wielded accountably."
