So Trump says that if Hamas doesn’t disarm there will be hell to pay. We regularly see pictures of the degradation of Gaza, even worse now than before due to heavy rains. The place looks like hell now that can’t even be warmed over.

Senate vote on healthcare: Republicans want to send funds directly to citizens: some, who are healthy and rarely see doctors, will benefit. Those with medical problems will be financially destroyed.

ICE is detaining people based on their appearance (skin color). They are not even allowed to present their credentials, like driver’s licenses. How can any politician not have respect for ‘due process’?

So when Christie Noem says that the Afghan shooter was radicalized in the US, then the vetting process to allow him to enter our country must have been thorough.

National Guard troops deployed to Washington and other cities, where they actually have nothing to do, are merely targets for lunatics. So when National Guard troops are targeted for no apparent reason, the President sends more targets.

Hey Jim, I’ve followed you for years and you have great insight and understanding. But, regarding Joby, I think you’re overlooking what’s really happening. Electric aircraft are the coming thing. Toyota already invested nearly $1bil. And Archer and three others? Ready?

Angus King gave the right explanation. Dems want to protect the masses from unusual increases in medical costs by extending a Covid era subsidy. But Republican refusal and the gov’t shutdown was making matters worse. He said, “let’s find a different way”. Good for him!

Regarding the NYC mayoral race, if Curtis Sliwa was running as a Conservative Democrat, he’d have a much better chance of winning the election.

Today’s question regarding national anthems is ridiculous! Shame on you for lowering your standards to this level!
November 2, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Trade deals! Presidents and other government leaders don’t promote great trade deals. Companies, businesses do, by offering new and improved products that people need and want. Political boundaries really should have no bearing.
November 2, 2025 at 2:49 PM
Are drug companies and the media promoting the improper use of drugs? Seems like 90% of commercials advertise drugs, mostly prescription, that “your doctor” already knows about. No need to ask.

He can’t stop using his cell phone to tweet, or whatever. At the same time, he’s opposed to building a new plant that would make a longer lasting battery so he could keep tweeting without recharging. Make sense?

Everyone is waiting anxiously for the hostages to arrive at the release point. But what I see is the Hamas is still in control and gives no indication that they are relinquishing their control over the territory.
October 13, 2025 at 4:47 AM
@smerconish.bsky.social The Hamas agreement can’t bring lasting peace. Think back to 1948, when Truman recognized Israel as a legitimate Jewish country. It was part of the region called Palestine. Non-Jewish Palestinians must have thought, “What about us?” They still do!

Is promoting Facism tantamount to a treasonable act?
October 12, 2025 at 4:23 AM
The President regularly adds disparaging adjectives to political and other opponents. Yet, none have ever filed defamation of character charges. Interesting.

Does anyone ever wonder what this continent would’ve been like if it had never been invaded by white Europeans?
October 10, 2025 at 6:31 PM
We keep hearing references to Antifa. But there’s no such organization. The word is a contraction of anti Facism, an extreme form of conservatism. Do we want a Facist government? Italy had Mouselini in the ‘30’s, leading to their failure.

What if air traffic controllers weren’t available when the President chose to fly?
October 8, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Healthcare companies are advertising now for people to enroll for next year. But, because of Republican resistance, they don’t know how to price their programs. Isn’t there a businessman in the house?
October 7, 2025 at 8:59 PM
We’ve spent over 200 years developing laws and ways of enforcing them, both civilly and militarily. If cities need better law enforcement, the President should lobby Congress to allocate more funds to cities to increase their police departments.
October 7, 2025 at 8:53 PM
Bailing out farmers didn’t work last and won’t work this time. We have to open the gates and let the traffic flow. Why grow edible, nutritious grains, only to bury them for lack of a market?
October 7, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Republicans really seem to have become anti-business. Every business has to preplan strategies so they are ready for the coming season. So it is with healthcare providers. They can’t wait until the current plan is about to expire. They need months so they can incorporate prices accordingly.
