a set of colorful polyhedral dice. the results don't really matter, other than they were actually rolled, so are, as much as possible, random. but the dice *are* sensorialy pleasant, made of silicon, thus rolling quietly on the table.

hey, @roguelike.club just so you know, this mug is an almost constant presence on my daily "coffee-check-ins" with my sibling :) absolutely love it.

i'm kinda liking this split keyboard thing.
in between the two halves of a split keyboard sits a purple plushie and a cup of cofee. the plushie has a pin "keep it simple stupid" on their lapel. the coffee tastes good, with a bit of oat milk and no sugar.

SMACS 0723-73 (1RXS J072319.7-732735, SMACS J0723.3-7327) NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has produced the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date. Known as Webb’s First Deep Field, this image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is overflowing with detail. Thousands of galaxies – including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared – have appeared in Webb’s view for the first time. This slice of the vast universe is approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground. This deep field, taken by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), is a composite made from images at different wavelengths, totaling 12.5 hours – achieving depths at infrared wavelengths beyond the Hubble Space Telescope’s deepest fields, which took weeks. The image shows the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago. The combined mass of this galaxy cluster acts as a gravitational lens, magnifying much more distant galaxies behind it. Webb’s NIRCam has brought those distant galaxies into sharp focus – they have tiny, faint structures that have never been seen before, including star clusters and diffuse features. Researchers will soon begin to learn more about the galaxies’ masses, ages, histories, and compositions, as Webb seeks the earliest galaxies in the universe. This image is the telescope’s first-full color image released. It was released July 11, 2022 6:21PM (EDT).

couldn't sleep, went on rabbit-holing on rogue's 5.4 source code, and... didn't know rogue came with anti-cheat...
a fragment of code of the original rogue. the comment says "these are illegal things for the player to be, so if any are set, someone's been poking in memory" and the code is an if statement on a series of flags that only monsters are supposed to have, with the program exiting if any is set.

just came across this on the bad place the other day
a 4 panel comic. the first has someone sadly saying "i hate myself", the second has someone approaching with a smile, on the third , they point to a computer screen with the graphic "OneDrive for Business". in the last panel the main character is using a keyboard and mouse, smiling while saying "wow! I hate this more!"

a picture of coffee being brewed. to the left, on the foreground, you are stirring the coffee. in the background you see an espresso tamper –irrelevant for the coffee you are brewing, and you haven’t made espresso in a long while, but you like how it looks and you do, on occasion, brew espresso, so it stays there– the plunger for the AeroPress immersed in warm water, and a pitcher with what’s left of your hot water. you like to stir it 30 times then pour the leftover water to rinse the stirrer, then set the microwave to warm the milk while it sits there, then you take the plunge. while you are stirring though, you’re not thinking about the milk –or the world– you just take the smells of the coffee and the steam that lightly fogs your glasses. the world will be there later. you tell that yourself many times, yet, you keep forgetting about it. that you can just make the coffee, and that the world will wait. most of the time you don’t make it. but today you did.
