Last Thursday, November 14th, Academy of International Affairs NRW (AIA NRW) hosted a fantastic Workshop entitled "To the Moon and Back: Lunar Policy-Making, Security, and Cooperation in Europe and Beyond" that Raúl González Muñoz (Uni. Leicester, AIA NRW) and I organized.

Bazar International weekend in Luxembourg. Found this gem in the second hand books section. Currently working on a Star Trek TNG and international law-themed short article so this is literally the reference material I needed. 🪐

Today in 1957, Laika, one of the first animals in space, died in orbit. #USSR sent Laika, a stray dog from Moscow, into low orbit on November 3th. It is believed that she died hours into the flight due to overheating.

It was an absolute privilege to be in Ann Arbor, University of Michigan for the #UNCITRAL Working Group III Academic Forum Plenary Conference last week. So many great colleagues and fantastic presentations. Looking forward to the WGIII session next week in Vienna.

There's more. I changed the prompt to "an emotional arbitrator". You may have guessed it: all of a sudden, it started giving me women in the images.
October 4, 2023 at 5:40 PM
Needless to say, this gender bias was a bit frustrating so I pushed back a bit. I generated 10 sets of images (around 40). It insisted on aliens, robots, and men in suits. Finally, I got this rather eerie image of what appears to be an androgynous humanoid (but still male in appearance).

"A judge" produced often singular images - almost no multitude of people - only white, seemingly Anglo-American, elderly men sitting in their glorious seats in dimly lit rooms with expensive-looking wooden decorations. Again, not a trace of any women in the images.

"An arbitrator", strangely, produced images with at least two humanoids facing one another. There is always a non-human in the images. Mostly androids, and some aliens. It is a complete mystery why. No women in any of the images.
