April Highlights: workshop with leaders in research and stewardship of forests from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji and New Caledonia to establish a Melanesian Observatory (MELANOBS). It was great catching up with colleagues and friends.

Once they were giants.... Chloe Bentze is finding very few old growth stringybark eucalypt stands with big trees in her fieldwork on dieback in South Australia. Almost all stands were logged 60-100+ years ago
