I think an addiction to anything that requires a constant monetary supply, and influences your mind like gambling does, can cause problems in households. Zeroing out sports gambling in particular edges on being a red herring from my perspective. I'd rather all predatory gambling be restricted.

The audiobook debate doesn't make an iota of sense to me because my gateway to reading was sitting on my grandpa's lap as he derived meaning from the funny little scribbles on the paper and entertained it warmly back at me.

One of the reasons I have a mostly unplayed Steam library is that buy games I pirated in my youth and liked because now I have the means to do so. Doesn't matter that its technically a waste of money, it makes me feel happy.

I think one contributing factor is that good art is more commonplace now. Its one thing to appreciate the craftsmanship and skill required, no doubt, but the fact that what I considered to be mind numbingly beautiful is now my average timeline post speaks volumes.

I think it's entirely dependent on the games you play. Gaming as a whole? I concur. But there are still genres hard to tackle as an indie IMO

This is the way. Honestly, my only problem is that games don't work all that well under a VM unless you have a beefy rig, and I have a 5yo laptop
