Jealousy is wrong, it doesn't know who you are nor does it care, all it wants is more, to have more connections, more skills, more possessions, more money, more fame, more time, more experiences, more love, more life, more happiness. Jealousy is the manifestation of greed, deep down we all want something to boast about, something that means a lot, something that's worth a lot, something that has value, somewhere that belongs to us, someone to call ours, but in trying to have all we lose sight of everything else, severing connections due to a petty disagreement and losing what you had because the demon in your head said you deserved more. Jealousy if left unchecked can destroy you, like a cancerous tumor that seeks more and more until it unknowingly kills its host and therefore itself, it was a tool for natural selection to ensure a mate would stay with you forever and carry your genetic material to the next generation, a tool that unbeknownst to it is partly responsible for many of the societal problems we face today in the modern age, a vestigial part of us that only indulges in greed. Jealousy is not who you are, like many things it's something you learn to acknowledge and control, something that feels so shameful to experience and yet so human, to disregard or demonize it is to neglect a part of you, a part that isn't pretty, a part that brings pain, but a part that you didn't choose to have, a part that should be cared for and handled with respect like all others.

Jealousy is just another emotion, they make us who we are and shape our behavior in search of survival, happiness signals that we're not in need of help, sadness gives us pause to reflect and recollect ourselves, anger makes us fight for what we believe in, fear reminds us that we're not unstoppable, but what purpose does jealousy serve? Jealousy is nothing more than a reminder, a reminder that no matter who you are or what you have, someone will always have something you wish you did, no matter how small, it's a signal to yourself that you're not good enough, that you should try harder or give up entirely, that the people around you are better than you, that they're mocking you for what you lack, that they only want to see you suffer for their own amusement. Jealousy is nothing more than a reminder, a reminder that no matter who you are or what you have, someone will always have something you wish you did, no matter how small, it's a signal to yourself that you're not good enough, that you should try harder or give up entirely, that the people around you are better than you, that they're mocking you for what you lack, that they only want to see you suffer for their own amusement. Jealousy thinks everything should revolve around you, that your friends should always hang out with you, that the people you love should love you back and love no one else, that all opportunities should come to you without effort, that if you don't have what you want it's because the world is unfair and cruel to you and you alone.
