That being said, this year was a bit complicated. The gaming industry getting worse and worse doesn't help either.

I hope next year will be better, I have to believe it will be, haha.

I usually remove all the processing that comes by default (especially on the more "organic" sounds).

I feel like if I want to use it with a more traditional orchestra, all the processing and distortion won't suit the aesthetic. If it's something more hybrid, I don't worry as much.

I was listening to the soundtrack for Dishonored, and I saw that the composer recorded everything at home, and the percussion sounds like something like a drum kit but played with mallets.

I thought about trying something like that in the future so I don't have to rely so much on libraries.

I've been using Damage 2, but it has very specific timbres, I don't think it fits well outside of the "pre-made".

I like the Symphony Series Percussion Library, it's more traditional orchestral than cinematic percussion.

I may not have anything exactly like JRPG soundtracks, but I would be willing to do a demo and see if my work is to your liking.

I'm not UK-based, but I compose for games. If you'd like to hear some of my work, I'll leave my website/portfolio. Who knows, maybe we'll work together on other projects in the future?

I studied for a few years, but musical performance isn't really my thing, so I graduated in music production and today I work in the field of musical composition.

Haha, cool! You can get a lot of effects out of it.

After that, I used the violin bow to play some strings on my acoustic guitar, creating a texture in the lower register of the effect I'll be using.

Then, I go into the DAW and mix everything, creating a unique texture from the blend of these recordings.

For this track, I first recorded some glissandos and other more 'atonal' articulations on the violin, so I could use them to mark some rhythms or create some crescendos.

I'm keeping a more direct edit of my process, so I can expand on it here in the text (for those interested in reading).

First, I wanted to use some instruments in this soundtrack, so I could somehow give the track a more unique character.
