Isn't it kind of fucked up how when a trans person or a coloured person or some mentally ill person does something bad, it's the entire communities fault? The entire group all of a sudden has to separate ourselves from this horrible person, I denouncing them, claiming them as "Not one of us." They're not ACTUALLY trans or they're actually white or acting white. When Ava Kris Tyson was discovered to be as horrible as she was, the misgendering started immediately, even from within the trans community itself. That's not to say she wasn't a bad person or her actions weren't disgusting and despicable, but along the way, it became less about her actions and more about the fact that a trans person did it. Hate to break it to you but marginalized members of a community can be horrible people too. Being black doesn't absolve someone of all racism, being gay doesn't absolve someone of bigotry, having a disability doesn't absolve someone of all ableism. It just makes us vulnerable to it as well. Firing on your own allies does not mean the enemy will look upon you kindly. They see you as stupid and a tool. I'm fighting for my life, my right to exist and I will fight for the people I hate's right to exist too. Because it's about more than just myself and them. I am fighting for our lives, all of our lives, because the way it's going now, I'm going down anyways. I will not go down quietly.

I look in the mirror and know it is not myself looking back at me. I avoid eye-contact for that reason. It is much harder to think shameful thoughts about who I once was when I must look them in the eyes and tell them that they didn't do good enough. It's much harder to tell anyone else that they deserved their pain, despite their efforts. I give them kindness I could never give myself. "You tried your best." "Things don't always work out the way we wish they did." "It wasn't your fault." But they're still me and I know that, despite my kindness, they don't believe me. They won't say it though. It doesn't matter. They're still me. I know they want to hear these things more than they care to believe them. I wish I could tear into myself, the body I grew, the life I carved. But I can't bring myself to insult someone else's hard work, with their whole soul and life put into it for me to experience. It's theirs just as much as it is mine. With that kindness and leniency, I move forward with one less bitter word said. What is not spoken will eventually disappear. Some things are just not meant to be said.
