This whole hysteria on the right about under representation of cons in academia drives me crazy. It is endogenous and self selecting. Free inquiry into the liberal arts is inherently left coded. Material rewards are lacking. Why go into academic STEM when you could make more money in industry, etc?

Less patronage per se but member of the club vs outside the club very much part of it, no? This is a huge problem in dem politics more broadly, as seen by this recent clyborn endorsement. Reformers of all types jeopardize this in particular

NYC politics are so patronage based that people outside those channels are shut out. Especially reformist types who might be be against that.
