My room is full of intakes. Oh and I didn't even get the Kawasaki throttle bodies because they were up on a shelf.

Bye Bye Chester! First car I ever worked on, and while I obviously never did much with it, I'm glad I got it to a point where it drove to it's new home.

From the very Nikon d50. Love the real camera. The phone camera tends to give you much more consistency with lighting and focus but the 20 year old dslr pictures come out great when you get it right. Also being able to take pictures from further away opens up a lot of possibilities.

Early lurker I guess.

I did this as a test piece, and tell me that isn't the fastest power strip you've seen.

Got my stuff back from the machine shop! Obviously was required to lay it all out and get pictures assisted by @ncglasgow.bsky.social. The last pic is the overly complicated stand I made to balance my rods, which I'm also lightening because I live dangerously. Getting close to assembly. #weirdcarbs

You can also buy this (for $300!! Not happening) which I think is rather ugly but would probably be a good thing to copy. I do have access to a car with one and I know they work so I might try and inspect it a little closer.

The factory air filter arrangement included a crude stub stack which I guess works pretty well. I am going to be bringing my intake through the core support and it would be interesting to try and make the air box/intake more a part of the velocity stack like in a modern engine.
June 12, 2024 at 1:23 PM
I have created a finger print issue for my car with rusty floor pans and no engine. The velocity stacks are a rough draft 3d printed in PLA, I plan to dyno a few variations and the final versions will be done in carbon fiber nylon. Engine and custom air box coming soon (eventually)!

The 2005 Honda Civic is objectively the best car, and mine is objectively the best 2005 Honda Civic.

Some neat cars in the garage I was getting my porting in. Also there was a tractor when I first came in. #weirdcarbs

Got set up with an example head, a die grinder, and some pointers and began my head porting today. No work in the ports was done actually but I'll get there.

Out with the old in with the new. Still needs connectors and some sort of back to protect and strain relieve the wires. Also will be drawing a diagram to help any future troubleshooters.

Went to the British "clinic" hosted by Kieth Ansel (foreign parts positively is the name of his business.) Turned out the lights in his store room had just stopped working so I put my tools on and earned a bit of good will. Apparently Kieth actually created the D9 cam profile @jeffbatt.bsky.social.

Draining cold 20w-50 is a blast, left it dripping all night. Is it wrong that I'm disappointed it's not sparkly? I feel like if I'm going to blow up a motor I should get some sparkly oil out of it.

Cool cars at the autocross 2/2
The Miata is always around its splitter always scrapes and shoots sparks. The Volvo might have been my favorite car of the day.

After a late Friday (and Thursday) complete with leaking gas, leaking vacuum, and a dead battery, I got my payoff.
Some action shots of some of my favorite attendees to follow.

Escalations have escalated.

My car wasn't running right and things have escalated. I think it might be starving for fuel because of the giant flakes of rust in the float bowls. Just a thought.
