Type III MINOCYCLINE-INDUCED HYPERPIGMENTATION

The minocycline was discontinued. At a follow-up visit 8 months later, the facial hyperpigmentation remained unchanged.

The patient remained asymptomatic.
Buffy coat smears were repeated at weekly intervals until 28 days had passed since the fly bite.
Smears showed no parasites, and the skin lesion, considered to be an uninfected tsetse fly bite, healed within the subsequent 2 weeks.

Two principal concerns:
a) the skin lesion represented a trypanosomal chancre at the site of a tsetse fly bite, and
b) the traveler could be incubating the East African tripanosomiasis caused by Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense

5-15 days after inoculation, one or several nodules, typically on the hand, with a surrounding erythematous ring.
Resolves spontaneously in 6-8 weeks

Acute acalculous cholecystitis is seen infrequently in:
- critically ill patients with trauma, shock or burns.
- some viral infections, including Epstein–Barr virus, cytomegalovirus and dengue virus

EBV acute acalculous cholecystitis has a good prognosis.

Typical of CREEPING ERUPTION, OR #CUTANEOUS #LARVA MIGRANS.

The patient was treated with albendazole. After 2 weeks, the lesion healed completely. No recurrence was seen at a 2-month follow-up visit.
