I'd always interpreted it as someone who is really uncomfortable in a relationship! (eg "I can't think of nothing special" in the break). Classic Sparks having a song that can be interpreted in completely different ways.

Nah. As an English tea drinker I'm fine with the mug not being preheated. But don't give me any microwaved stuff, it's got to be with water boiled in a kettle.
