If you don't have the bollocks to stand up for minorities then you don't really support them, do you? What's the difference between not supporting them (but not disliking them either) and outright disliking them? The consequence remains the same

The Cameron government quite literally put the country in a death spiral that's done permanent, irrevocable damage. How could they not make you worry for the future of the country?

The irony is that you do not understand what they're saying. They're saying that tax doesn't fund government spending, not that tax isn't incredibly important. Tax is central to MMT, it just plays a different role (inflation control)
December 4, 2025 at 12:33 PM
Is this supposed to be an argument against MMT? MMT quite literally states that real resources are a major constraint to government spending. If that's a quote from the article, the author hasn't researched MMT properly
December 4, 2025 at 12:19 PM
4. Is the key point here. Like, we've seen decades of "sensible" orthodox economics, and everything has just gotten worse. What exactly are these people wanting?
December 4, 2025 at 12:12 PM
You don't have to agree with the theory, but Truss' mini-budget was not an example of MMT. No MMT proponent would argue for deficit-financed tax cuts; that literally betrays one of the theory's most fundamental principles
December 2, 2025 at 11:26 PM
Starmer's government are doing some pretty extreme extreme things with immigration, trans rights and the right to protest. What exactly makes the Greens "extreme" by comparison?
November 15, 2025 at 9:33 AM
I'd say the biggest aid to Reform right now is Labour themselves but hey, why hold the party in government to account when you can just blame the portion of the general public who said party have maliciously targeted for the last two years?
November 10, 2025 at 7:36 PM
This is asset focused and not income focused, but the issue is that assets valuations are growing far too quickly compared to wage growth, which is never going to catch up unless asset valuation growth is hamstrung because it's out of control
November 6, 2025 at 3:55 PM
A wealth tax can be designed to do either of those things, the motivation stems from whoever implements it. If wealth is stored in assets, which it primarily is, then allowing assets valuations to expontentially outpace wage growth is how you reach cataclysmic levels of inequality. I'm well aware
November 6, 2025 at 3:54 PM
And yes, I'm well aware of Labour's NI hike, but that's not remotely comparable to this is it? It barely touches the major players in the economy and affects small businesses far more
November 6, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Because it's the same cohort! A wealth tax is designed to directly reduce the net worth of the wealthiest individuals, who are often founders, major shareholders & executives of large corporations. Do you really they wouldn't be the ones lobbying against it, threatening capital/business flight?
November 6, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Than a larger state? It's obscene to suggest that's a conspiracy theory
November 6, 2025 at 3:14 PM
What on earth are you you talking about? Starmer has been as clear as day about his thoughts on the role of the private sector vs. the state re: growth. Do you really think it's a conspiracy theory to suggest Labour see an empowered private sector as a greater vehicle to improved living standards...
November 6, 2025 at 3:13 PM
You absolutely do not have to "invent extraordinary conspiracy theories" to come up with reasons as to why a Labour government would not want to tax wealthy individuals, even if it could. That's incredible hyperbole and if anything, quite ignorant of their blatant relationship to private capital
November 6, 2025 at 3:07 PM
This is a pretty ridiculous thing to say when the current Labour leadership have relentlessly attacked leftists since they came to power, while also bending over backwards for the right while in power. The sense of entitlement/double standards amongst some Labour voters is really jarring
November 5, 2025 at 5:32 PM
Because it is getting worse. Wealth inequality & income inequality are not the same thing. Wealth inequality in the UK reached historic highs in 2025. Modest increases in annual salaries are not going to solve the issue of soaring asset values which will continue to outpace wage growth by a distance
November 2, 2025 at 9:44 AM
Prepared a balanced statement, but have instead decided to indulge in ideological uproar to pander to irrationality
October 18, 2025 at 12:05 PM
which is about as hard as it gets preemptively for a cross-border fixture. Police do not make decisions like this on an ideological basis. WMP did the same thing to Legia Warsaw fans back in 2023 after they caused trouble. The government were made aware of this decision a week ago and could've...
October 18, 2025 at 12:04 PM
It's not a good piece at all. He talks about a "lack of hard evidence" of Maccabi fans' intentions when the entire reason they've been banned is because WMP received intelligence from the European Policing Network about the danger posed by them...
October 18, 2025 at 12:02 PM
Do you think that reflects well on Labour? What "internal dynamics" caused your party leader to lie through his teeth to win the leadership election? Or is that type of opportunism excusable?
October 16, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Unless you're a vocal opponent of the Labour leadership & front bench, no non-Labour person is going to take these criticisms seriously. You can't support Starmer, Mahmood, Streeting, Kendall etc al and dish out "arrogant" "unprincipled" "opportunist" allegations. It's borderline comical tbh.
October 16, 2025 at 9:18 PM
Your political hero is a man who participated in the displacement of 700k Palestinians? You do realise he was a huge part of the original movement that is largely responsible for the "conflict" we see today?
October 4, 2025 at 7:28 PM
I'd take your point if the current regime had shown any hint of capability, decisiveness and ingenuity in government. We've seen nothing but can kicking, shallow pandering to electoralism and socially regressive rhetoric. Add to that the repressive Palestine Action stuff too. Not fit for purpose.

People like you would've disapprovingly wagged your finger at the suffragettes if you were alive at the time
