Also, idk if this is the fault of the acting, the writing, or the shortened prompts, but there’ve been so many times when I pick a dialogue option and the tone Javi takes is totally different from what I wanted to say. I didn’t have this problem at all in the previous two games, so idk what changed.

It feels like they really wanted to tell a totally new story, but also *had* to include Clem bc she’s the anchor point for the whole series. The result so far just feels really confused.

On the one hand Javi has all these built-in relationships you’re supposed to manage before u really get a handle on them, and on the other there’s already way too many choices that test your allegiance to Clementine, the character all returning players will be more attached to than anyone else.

But in S2 they feel a lot more dynamic, and their conflict feels both unique to their personalities and like a big-ish deal while still being very grounded and not having to resort to melodrama to keep it interesting. So I don’t think that criticism applies anymore, but I understand it.

I kind of get this criticism bc in S1 their relationship is just kinda *there* most of the time and honestly feels a little generic. Like “ray of sunshine x cynical grump” vibes w/ not a lot else going on. The “X character has a secret” type plot line is also rly overdone, tho I liked the resolution

I sat through HH season 1 mildly amused and trying to be generous abt it bc my friend really likes it. The first 2 episodes of S2 have me genuinely invested in the ongoing plot and honestly kind of impressed at some of the musical numbers. Is this show actually, like…good??? Like for real???

IMO while it’s probably the weakest song on the album, the rest of the album kind of elevates it to being at least kind of OK. Kind of similar to how I feel about Without Me by Halsey.

Yeah I remember that being a relatively uncontroversial position even 10+ years ago, well before any large-scale backlash to her as a person. I was also on tumblr though, which has p consistently had these conversations a few years before other places online.
