This seems great news but the IEA makes it sound like a problem.

Still means it’s growing though… it needs to decline if we want to make it as a species.

To see declining emissions 100% of oil & gas investment should be on offsetting losses and it shouldn’t be enough to actually offset them.

I wonder if once the situation is critical enough the ultra-right of Meloni, Orban and co will face the music and finally give in to further EU unity.

The push might come from the “cleaned up” Meloni herself?

Is OpenAI also being sued by this class? What have they done?

How can gas be down so much? WWS hasn’t grown that much.

Where did the rest of the electricity come from?

Yeah I’ve noticed it a couple of times myself going off the rails. Can’t understand why/how

Unfortunately bsky discover just isn’t as interesting as X…. I’m afraid it’s just due to the size of the network compared to X. Less content and less likes to identify the good stuff.

Amazing how most VCs are so shortsighted they don’t even see things once they have already happened.

“renewables are booming despite fossil fuels getting nearly nine times the government consumption subsidies as they do. In 2023, global fossil fuel subsidies amounted to $620 billion, compared to $70 billion for renewables, the UN report said”

Quick reminder of the power of lobbies and govt capture

“He told the Journal he was preparing to file a lawsuit if it published an article. “I’m gonna sue The Wall Street Journal just like I sued everyone else,” he said.”

Now it even tags users?!

Completely off the rails.

This train has already left the station and is picking up speed.

Solar will go exponential. The market forces are clear.

The grid definitely wasn’t a “no-go” for going from a renewables share of “34% in 2019 to 47% in 2024, as the fossil share declined from 39% to a historic low of 29%”

With specific countries at much higher RES penetrations with no issues.

It sounds like unnecessary fear mongering.
July 6, 2025 at 11:55 AM
The “unreliable grid” is already handling the transition.

Of course more investment is needed but the EU already produced around 47% of power from renewables in 2024 & rising fast.

It’s a long process that is already happening and there is no going back.

European Electricity Review 2025 | Ember
The EU’s electricity transition continued at pace in 2024, as solar overtook coal for the first time and gas declined for the fifth year in a row.

How is this very bad news for the EU’s climate ambitions?

Ottima analisi.
