I can’t think why they’re not given those Trigonometry Essentials!

It was interesting to see the comment about wanting a cycling AA/RAC equivalent. I've had cycle recovery cover from ETA (www.eta.co.uk/bicycle-insu...) for the last 7 years. Luckily never had to use it, but great for peace of mind for £18 a year.
Bicycle Breakdown, 24hr Recovery Service | ETA
ETA offers ethical and reliable cycle rescue for only £24 per year. Enjoy 24hr recovery and peace of mind with the original and best provider of cycle rescue.

One of my recent favourites: windows key & left arrow (or right). Set the current window to fill half the screen & usually it displays thumbs of yr other windows so you can choose what you want in the other half. I use it a lot to display OneNote alongside a calc emulator on the electronic board.

Which brings us to the worrying conclusion that somebody typed them! 😆

Just a tiny bit! We’re talking something.988 instead of something.998 type of thing!

The error?!? Turns out there were three in the chi-squared table!

In #mathstoday we may have spent longer than was strictly necessary using Excel to find the errors in the stats tables!

I had a look through it today - be interested to know what you thought…

Fun chance to talk about Lewis Carroll being a mathematician as well as the creator of Alice in Wonderland, and how he found determinants. I found out about it here: www.johndcook.com/blog/2023/07...
How Lewis Carroll computed determinants
Charles Dodgson (a.k.a. Lewis Carroll) developed a method of computing determinants which has some practical advantages.

Well that, and the fact we never get any snow out here in the Fen lands!

All my formula book grumpiness is taken up with my annoyance at the lack of factorials in the general binomial expansion (and that’s without thinking about the year when they printed the general case as 2.1…r 😮)

I always enjoy seeing who AQA get to play zero sum games. For a while there was always someone starting with R on Rows and C on columns. Then they got more inventive, but my favourite was in 2021 when Roj and Avon were playing - took me a second to work out the writer must have been a Blake's 7 fan!
