Pear slices marinated in orange juice and "moistened with mayonnaise" with nuts and celery. Served on a lettuce leaf.

I mentionned "Bon" earlier in the thread, but I just encountered a "Non" (No).

Sorry Mississippi, but apparently your chocolate cake sucks.

With that, I just finished the first book out of the 25 (iirc, I only have 13 here).

Just in the first book, there was 251 individual recipe cards, with a total of 342 recipes.

Gotdamn

Behind the veil of innocence that brings the simple name of "salmon bread", this is a certified aspic.

Mixing bechamel, mayonnaise, a cup of liquid (?), canned salmon, celery and sliced olives.

They even specify that you might want to strain this to get rid of lumps.

First time I see a hot dog unironically called a chien chaud (literal french translation for hot dog). Also why did they need to draw those dogs like that?

Another interesting linguistic thing that I'm keeping track of: the use of catsup instead of ketchup.

This one is from La compagnie du pouvoir du Bas St-Laurent, which was a private electricity provider before the nationalization of electricity in 1963. Notice how the oven was drawn in the upper right.
