West Virginia writer, artist, actor, designer, husband, father, grandfather, caregiver, worried historian, generally pissed off but trying to find positive solutions to difficult problems.
I've not followed him much, but this interview... holy shit. He really is a blithering idiot. Even if he didn't get the wrong info, he's just... an amateur. Normally, I try to be gracious, but Sweet Jesus, that guy needs to go.

Sweet Jesus help us.

Scouting teaches us values, the importance of virtuous living, and provides for young men and women a badly needed moral compass. It promotes education, achievement, doing good deeds, and protecting the earth.

None of this is acceptable to Hegseth.

Not ready for prime time, but great nails and hair.

"You're fired."

"...but whatever."

It's very difficult to believe that Vance actually wrote this drivel.

That woman is going to have a nervous breakdown, a heart attack, or something equally as serious. Some of her breathing, nervous ticks, and jaw movements look concerning.

Ah, yes. How incredible it is to see this talking-point year after year, when it's obvious to anyone with eyes to see that Dems really don't care if it's their own or not. They just want to ensure that the big orange doesn't slip away. Can't say the same for y'all, sadly.

Sir, with respect, I noticed you have over a quarter million "followers," yet less than 50 have commented on this post, the majority calling you out. Maybe it's time for a little self-reflection.

Yes.

Been trying for months to get folks to see these same parallels. I'm glad others see them too, and that they're speaking up. Good on this fine young man.

Well said, Ms. Farrow. I was unexpectedly moved. I had personal issues with Mr. Cheney during the day, but, as forgiveness is soul-cleansing, I was ready. Lovely family. Seems like a loving father and grandfather were lost.

After yesterday's Senate vote, Johnson looked like he had been hit by a ton of bricks.

Let's hit him again. All of them who have victimized these girls, and supported those who did, and do. Johnson being ground zero.

Wow.

I disagree. A post D&D chat last night with my kid and a small group of 12-year-olds. They're already on board. They recognized that it takes little courage to condemn an "other," but condemning one's own takes some personal courage. She's fallen into the abyss. She can emerge a better person.

It's a debate if and only if one of the two parties debating lacks principles.

Local histories of the various southern states, coupled with an exam of cemeteries & local death records, show us that during these plagues, it was primarily Methodist and Baptist clerics that pushed into the western wilderness; the # of persons "saved" during this period was very high. Doctors low.

Morning thoughts:

1) Haters gonna hate, even on the left.
2) She's showing us who really leads this country - the only person in Washington who has any clout
3) She will be President at this rate
4) It took a Civil War to end the Know-Nothings & one pedophile to end Maga.

It would have to be done county by county, which is a challenge all its own.

I guess I was time-traveling a bit far back, thinking about Lorenzo Dow and the various and sundry plagues that swept the South in the first half of the 19th century. It could be coincidence that these two things (plague and rise of Southern Baptists) were coincidental - or not.
