Challenge accepted so will be testing this beyond the clipboard image. A gif from my hard-drive and maybe another image :-)

Don't ignore the Pacific everyone!
Erick has one hell of an eye at this time. Mexico is going to get pummeled.

Netherlands Night! 😀

First, I forgot my helmet at home. Didn’t even notice until 4.5km into my ride 😅

Second, noticed that a city contractor was using a portable hydraulic unit from the Netherlands. How cool is that? 😀

Here's a noise generator from MyNoise that will likely cause most people to turn it off almost immediately! 😂

But, it's one of my favorites, and doesn't bother me in the slightest. Here's the link to the custom setting, and the warning-blurb on the page:

A bridge on Chimney Rock near the Walker Library is typical of the older ones in Houston. The "sidewalk" portion of it is skinnier than the old sidewalks connecting to it (too many of which are also overgrown). So, this was my test route to get there:

Last few weeks I've been taking a neighbor's daughter to HS a couple of times a week. It's on W Orem at Hiram Clarke, where I have noticed that the sidewalk on the north side is being replaced. It appears to be at least 6' wide, but can't really tell width while driving parallel.

I am curious as to which side of Brays Bayou the connecting trails will take. Because there are completed segments at different parts and on different sides from each other on the way to Arthur Storey:
(Purple = No existing trail)
(Yellow = Existing paved trails)

Those look cool, too, but not quite the same. The largest of them made me think of a volcano, like say Mt. Fuji, at least in shape. I took some other pics, but the quality isn't that great:

@mattlanza.bsky.social Some weird cloud formations east of here (Willowbend). Sorry about the powerlines in the way. But, I've never seen clouds do this, looking like inverted tornadoes:

Looking at Street View, it does have a handicap ramp with a pipe-style railing on the parking lot side. That could be used as a bike rack, if they don't complain.

remove the street curb and replace with bike-lane protection stops. Then there's no severe drop off to the side like now.

They also replaced the asphalt further down (area pictured) and right now there's at least a 2ft / 60cm drop-off inside the curve. I hope they fill it soon!

What's wild about the Texas border is that almost all of the counties along it are blue.

And yet, I sometimes watch security videos on Nextdoor of people seemingly still able to leave their cars unlocked at night. I guess not all cars have auto-locking, like even my 8-y.o. Civic.

This is a good alternative, though:

I don't have a cargo bike (yet) so strapping a large box full of recycling is the only way I have at the moment. At least the recycling dumpster is at a local elementary school and I can then go for a longer ride after dropping it off 🙂

I see Harris County is replacing the old asphalt trail just east of the new pedestrian bridge. That was a major bottleneck for everyone using it.

Also, when I was taking these picks a jogger came along and instead of going behind my bike, he almost tripped trying to get in front of it. Joggers! 😂

I read as much as I could understand. The one you can see in the satellite images doesn't seem to fit the first two he explained. I guess I'll have to look up the other three. The one in the image appears to be halfway between halves of the substation, so it could be for fault or current-limiting.
March 7, 2025 at 2:21 AM
It may be too far away from a street to get that kind of view. But, here's what I could get from Hiram Clarke, and the overview of the substation:

Asking if anyone knows enough about substation equipment to tell me what this thing is and what it does. It measures about 14' or 4.3m in dia. and appears to be quite tall from the shadow. It reminds me of a Tesla Coil.

This is how you do a MUP when presented with an immovable CP utility pole. Excellent work, Harris County!
March 5, 2025 at 1:30 AM
That sucks.
Maybe what we need to do is mass-produce fake/plastic propane tanks for strapping onto the rear of our bikes, per this particular meme.

And how often do you see posts in a YT comment section like this?
