Such a beautiful song. I know some people might find some of the language questionable but if you can't see the shear love behind the words then you're not human.

Batman was one of the first I remember hitting home video in like 6 months, which was super fast at the time, that I remember. So yeah, the initial home buy cost might have been higher too.

Yeah, the replacement fee to rental companies was like $80-100ish per tape. But buying tapes at a store would be like $20ish.

The CIA/folk music one is so good. Finally watched it a few months ago and really want to re-watch it already. Can't stop thinking about it. Beautiful stuff.

And for all the "but what about Under God?" people.. reminder that all that was added in the 50s as a backlash to the "godless commie" threat. This is supposed to be a nation for EVERYONE, not just Christians.

"I've raped and murdered all the people I care to. The list for both consisting of exactly zero people." - Penn Jillette, noted atheist. He also had a throwaway addon along the lines of "I'd hate to see your list" to those who say morality only exists under fear of God's punishment.

Still eagerly awaiting "We're Wolves" but not in development yet. Great list! Thanks!

Yeah, just confirming that the phrase was obscure even to native and older english speakers. hah

It's a really old expression. Like probably from MY grandparent's day. Vaguely remember hearing it in the 80s but that had to be the tail end of the usage. Yeah, sometimes that game pulls some obscure references.

What I'm concerned about is that there's nothing all that interesting in the files (or at least directly incriminating him and he's just laughing that we're wasting so much energy for so long on it. I feel like something else he balked on ended up being nothing.

Exactly. I feel like criminal laws should always involve a victim, fairly directly. Artists drawing fictional things has no victim. You could argue a case if they were drawing/3D modeling things based on real people, maybe. Porn between consenting adults and viewers should, ideally, have no victim.

Weird or basically what Star Wars did with Episode 1 and episode 4 where it was kind of a remake of the original JP with some you could consider "homage" but twisting it enough to be not exactly a clone.

Freedom of expression should include everything as long as it breaks no other laws or infringe on anyone else's rights.

Who is to decide what expression has "merit"? So why shouldn't any expression be protected by freedom of speech/expression in the US regardless of whether you enjoy it or find it "obscene" or not. Some place find bare skin on women obscene.

One thing I never understood is that they say porn can't be protected by copyright and free speech because something needs to have some artistic "merit" to be considered art and protectable. But there's obviously merit by virtue of how popular it is. Does a child's rudimentary drawing have merit?

How are you applying them?

Been ages since I've read this, but really loved it when I did. Good reminder to revisit sometime.
