Right? I feel like "robot follows you everywhere to allow you to have complete freedom to do whatever you want unless it is a crime" is a torment nexus story yet to be written.

Even funnier when you remember Elon was so concerned about Roko's Basilisk.

Sad that this (which I stole from the replies to Popehat back when he was on Twitter) is out of date now.

Ah, but have you considered that Trump says that is Fake News and they have raised over $2 trillion already (AKA the estimated revenues for 10 years assuming no change in demand for imports)?

Have had this one quote rattling around in my head for months. Significant chunk of the narrative is corrupting mankind to see mortality as a curse not a gift leading to their fall and Peter "name every product after LOTR" Thiel says "of course, but what if we could escape the curse of mortality?"

Will be a massive elephant in the room in how the story broke; does she imply that someone in her life that she trusted aired her dirty laundry or does she just skip between "I was seduced" to "I was slut shamed"?

I am remembering Lupin, a Bond-esque "been in dozens of stories that cannot possibly be canon with each other" character who at one point they made a movie that said "fuck it, all of it is canon, there are just dozens of dudes convinced they are the only Lupin".

I highly suspect that I encountered this paper earlier today in the exact subreddit you did but that is "what were you doing at the Devil's Sacrament?" stuff.

"Aha, but if you include these outlays Trump is adding without Congressional approval the policy is revenue neutral hence it is not a revenue raising policy!"

Man, it sure is good that ACA made sure to put profit caps on insurers to make sure that payments made by the healthy either went to the care of the sick or were rerouted back to policy holders so the concern you are getting bilked was mitigated. Clearly getting rid of such stuff will save people $

The Supreme Court case will still go on on the basis of "ok, but even if Congress does fund SNAP does the President have the authority to declare they do not have the funds and end it anyway?"

You better watch out: BBC is apparently going through a major restructuring for unfairly implying that January 6th was a bad thing without including equal coverage oh how Harris was bad too.

Of course, riots would likely be considered a feature for the people in charge falsely claiming there are already riots to justify sending troops into major metros to support ICE activity.

Personally looking forward to demands that Democrats make additional concessions if Republicans want them to get the opportunity to not have another shutdown.

Hell, arguably the angry base HELPS Democrats politically to some degree: saying "listen, are voters are ready to string us up because we aren't requiring abolishing ICE and mandatory transitions like Trump says we are arguing for" moves the Overton window.

I think it is true that:

1) Asking for a small, reasonable concession only to see it be rejected is very good politics.

2) The fact there is no reasonable endgame where Democrats can bring Trump in line with norms as a minority party is going to make EVERYONE on here angry later this month.
