aspirationally chill af, but also? try Dr. Pepper, not me, cause it gets messy

My side hustle, V+R, or "Holy Odours", is getting started here: https://shorturl.at/Q2aLB
I gave a good talk on Mary, Advent, and Music today. (I am particularly equipped.)

My favorite thing was to tell them that their protestant ambivalence about Mary was co-equal to everyone else's secular (and non-/other-religious) ambivalence about Jesus.

Rounded it out by chanting her Song.

Got a lot done with my new hobby @holy-odours.bsky.social. My first tinctures (frankincense, benzoin) are almost done. Thought I would be a candle queen, but it's really about anointing oils + rollerball applicators to me. Wearable. I'm not trying to do perfume but I'm not against it.

When I struck the well of my grief
Instead of water it gushed poems,
and then where the poems were
I wept again at
an emptiness, deeper;
unspeakably
Vast—
cthonic.

My sister: my ancestor; my beloved.

Toni Peebles Franks would have been 53 today ❤️⚱️

Would love to see it. Especially right in front of Portillo’s, a notorious donor to Republican politics.

Today, Bishop Paula Clark banged on the red doors of Jesus Factory #2. We only made her wait *a little while* before we answered 😝

Since I did that infused oil last week, I’ve been wanting to do more scent-craft. I had planned to make my own carrier, but the bottles came full of perfumer’s alcohol, so no need for distilled water and witch hazel. Just add fragrance.

The oil is an infusion from pulverized frankincense and myrrh resin extracted over low heat for about two hours at a time twice a day (8 hours) for two days. I also added a drop each of eucalyptus, lemongrass, and cedar wood essential oils for additional complexity.

Let's see you at 21(ish)

We had a little too much of something cheap and decided the world needed Thelma-and-Louise via Mississippi.

So in love with this out-of-use baptisty cover at Jesus Factory #2. They better keep an eye out, or that might go missing!

Y’know, if I couldn’t read, I’d say it’s almost goddamn pleasant today.

So true. I've had this piece by a former housemate forever, and it's such a shame I haven't put it up.

If I have to be here today, at least no one else is here to bother me.

I’m not *worried* about the presentation tonight, but I do much better in the written format than the spoken. As articulate as I can be when the brain is braining, I can be equally tongue-tied when I’m tired, which I will be by the time this happens after waking up at 4 AM.

Oh, Sunday, you can be over any time you like.

Once upon a time, the only place to see colors like this was if you were up early enough. Now we can see colors anytime we want, so I’m jealous of anyone who could sleep in today.

No idea on the origin of this stained glass hanging in the rectory office at Jesus Factory #2. I assume it's one of the Anglo-Saxon kings. Æthelbert?Æthelbald? Æthelred?

Anyway. Æthelsomething. Probably.
