I hope none of my vb code is still running anywhere. Some of it is quite bad. What it did was pretty trick at the time, but some of the app architecture was appalling. Oh well 🤷

Knew exactly what you were referring to. The movie was good but the book was better. I did used to love all those record stores around Clark st in Lincoln Park.

Have to be one of the ones to disagree. I thought they really got better at writing as they went along. Cut & demon flower are great albums. I like some of the early stuff but a lot of it is too muddy and industrial sounding for me. Each to their own though

I read that earlier. Satya is speaking in tongues. Complete word salad. AI could easily be Microsoft’s downfall. A damn shame. Pull the ai out and some of their products are good. I like windows, sql server and visual studio. I still and always will detest WCF.

Deeply disappointed in him. I have been a Microsoft fan for > 30 years, but I am sick to death of copilot and its ilk. I run IT for a 100 person company. At least 80% dislike AI and some hate it with the heat of 1,000 suns.

As mentioned above, every time I see his name I immediately think of the Australian Philosophers Song. 🥃

Ahh the mighty PDP. My first experience with DEC systems was a VAX of unknown (to me) pedigree. I came from the big iron world, MVS, CICS etc from an ops standpoint, but started coding with C 6.0a on 8086's. A dinosaur at my company.

ebcidic I remember, but I think Sixbit predates me a wee bit.

Diabetes? Uhh no. I am diabetic and there are a lot better places to administer insulin than your hands. Pods and pumps make it even easier. Your hands would hurt like hell

The Apple+ UI would like a word. Just like iOS these days. Completely unintuitive. Or maybe I’m just old. I can do some pretty snazzy UI with fluent though 🤓

Based on experience supporting it for the last 18+ years as IT admin and dealing with the APIs I would have to agree. The one I am dealing with at the moment uses xml for the API. The rest api doesn’t support app level permissions so is useless. Quickbooks is an abomination as well

If only my vision was as good as my score 20/20.

Had to take exchange offline and defrag mail stores. Took all weekend to get 20% back. Moved to hosted exchange soon after. Ad forest had same dns name as corporate site too, resulting in split dns. Still dealing with that. Fun times

Crazy to put data files under system32 as the default. Years ago I had to reclaim space on an exchange install. Mail storage folders were on the same drive as OS which was not a big drive. Plenty of space on d drive which was of no help.

My sympathies. I didn’t know anyone still used that. Shudder.

Win 95 OSR2, win 2K and win 7 were my favorites. Pretty darn stable. And with last 2 you could domain join. Windows home server was pretty good for managing and backing up multiple home pc’s

Indy. National treasure. Still crazy. Robin Hood. Apollo 13. Can’t be arsed finding the gifs at 1:30am 🥱

They conspire to arrive at the same time as door dash so they can drop the parcels on top of your food on the little table you set out at the front door. Or they’ll leave it all on the filthy ground and ignore the table and sign. Bastards

This sounds eerily like time sheets to me.
