I too had planned to use my van for an errand that day but decided to hold off. Glad I did. When I was out pedaling around (for fun) there were sirens and crashes all over the place.

i'm with you that there needs to be a much higher level of QC on SNIC work because right now it feels like there is zero accountability

maybe golfin' dan should spend less time in the clubhouse and more time reading actual policy

“I feel like I was lied to and misled,” said Ward 13 Coun. Dan McLean, citing repeated assurances that federal housing funding wasn’t tied to council’s May 2024 decision on citywide rezoning.

I see this almost every day, even in summer, on the less than 2kms it takes for me to go from my home in Bankview down to the Bow River.

This has the potential to cause a really bad crash. Wow. @mykeatkinson.bsky.social

Yes, though I cannot remember in which document I read that stat.

That's true. When we were rear ended last spring the police wouldn't even take a report because there were no injuries.

Good reminder to all #yycbike folk, stay alert at all intersections. I spend more time on the sidewalks / out of the way. Sit back, watch the fireworks then proceed through the collision scene. The red light running will only get worse through the winter.

Costs from car crashes in Calgary were calculated at around $1.4 billion per year not long ago. I'd imagine, based purely on the increasing chaos on our roads that that number will be approaching $2 billion.

Yet, somehow, investing a few tens of millions in safer streets is ludicrous.

...not even close...

"Between midnight and midnight, Calgary police responded to 496 crashes" ~ CTV Calgary

Wasn't close at all in my collision estimate.

"From midnight to 4 p.m., there were 389 reported collisions, including 26 involving injuries, and 50 non-injury hit and runs, police said" ~ CBC News

And people wonder why Alberta insurance rates keep climbing...
