the other reason is to discourage myself from using a rough sketch i've fallen in love with for the final when I really should do a second take; I'll copy the low-res version into the final canvas, scale it up, then do a clean-up sketch over that basis, and work that for the final.

for like thumbnails and ideation i use the default 'screen size' canvas. The first reason for this is the 'school notebook' effect where I'm less precious about something that's not using up a 'nice' canvas and its easier to abandon bad work or do lots of roughs if its explicitly not final work

I have an older ipad so canvas size impacts my layer budget, for that reason i select canvass size determined by the target application by referring to that applications published technical information , so i have like a custom 'Instagram reel' canvas that's the max displayable Instagram reel size.

I use the default brush 'studio pen' for almost everything, the main reasoning unrelated to my style is that the line-smoothing is very forgiving and the pressure-width reminds me of the crow-quill pens I favored when I was working traditionally without me having to config so it plays to my laziness
