I'm also thinking back to my post-audition for the marine drum and bugle corp and how much time and effort and coercion went into how those recruiters interacted with me just to meet their quotas. they'll tell you anything to convince you to serve, and they're mostly half-truths.

I used to be obsessed with names and their meanings as a kid. My sisters both got names that meant like "wisdom" and "patience" and I got stuck with a goddamn weed for a moniker, so now I project that frustration onto every single little guy* I make
