I typically do, but there is nothing magical about the new year. It is just a convenient time for reflection, often motivating a course correction. Long hikes also have a similar effect on me.

One of the reasons Bluesky is seeing more engagement: other platforms have adopted the behaviour of de-prioritising external links (like, say, to research papers) due to Ad models.

Often an outlier among reviewers, I view judging significance as an inherently subjective role for the community to consider through citation. My role should be as a more objective garbage filter: does the paper support its claims, appropriately build on prior work, and use sound methods/analyses?
