Chunky albums for June listening - Highlights were the gorgeous first album by Houseplants (synthpop duo incl. Bell X1’s vocalist), and the highs of Berninger’s Get Sunk hit hard for where I was at the start of June.

Haven’t posted any gig photos in a while. Here’s a few I liked.

First listens of May, some good stuff here but a few that really disappointed me - Like A Virgin isn’t a patch on later Madonna, thought I’d like City of Clowns and Getz/Gilberto a lot more. Modest Mouse and the Smerz album were really good.

First listens of April (plus an oft-repeated Lankum album, Westside Cowboy and Lexie Liu singles).

Eilish’s Happier Than Ever was the big surprise here, excellent album. I presume whichever critic recommended Oslo Twins on their newsletter is on here, so thanks much if you see this.

I’ll be in Mahon Point on Saturday helping table for Cork Comic Creators! We’ll be selling copies of Tales From The Stop, a genre-bending anthology I wrote a ghost story for!

The last one was great craic, class guests, come on down and say hi!

Robbing @julandxrs.bsky.social’s format, here’s my first listens of March. Quiet month due to Kamasi‘s one being a five-record album and taking a while to get through. (Plus frequently-repeated Talking Heads and XX to make up the room)

I hate how modern genre fiction feels the need to weigh in on political issues. Here’s an unrelated panel from 1987’s Justice League where Batman wants to kill his coworker who can’t shut up about Ronald Reagan
